Why does my antivirus software flag our software as potentially malicious?

Some popular antivirus programs flag uncommon or new software, since they take the ‘guilty until proven innocent’ approach to malware detection. This is somewhat unfortunate for small software publishers like us, since new releases of are software almost always get flagged, even if we submit a white-listing request. Since we are a small software publisher, our applications are downloaded only a few thousand times a month, it sometimes takes a few days or even weeks for the antivirus warnings to go away. This is an ongoing problem for us with no straightforward solution since we try to push updates to the program every 1-2 months.


If you receive a warning message from an antivirus program, we would appreciate if you could take a screenshot of the warning message and submit it to our customer support team. We will do our best to white-list the program from your antivirus vendor.
